Released as a 4-song 12” in 1998, San Diego’s The Wad Squad was born of weekly series of jam sessions among friends high on downtempo hip-hop and krautrock. DJ Lotus (bass, samples), Nate (samples) and Grant (guitars) found a unique home for their initial recordings – the soundtracks to locally produced adult films. While the recordings on the 12” were initially released on VHS as a score to all kinds of on-screen hijinks, the EP struck a different mood amongst late ‘90s fans of the MoWax label and Can reissues.

For the 2022 re-release, a 5th song by the trio was unearthed from the original DAT recordings – and joins the newly mastered songs to round-out a rare gem from nearly a quarter-century ago.
